Tech Scout
Global Corporate Venturing Tech Scout Database
What is it?
The GCV Tech Scout Database proactively identifies and screens innovative cyber, IT, physical and energy technologies and matches them with interested corporate investors.
There are over 300 tech companies (rising to 500+ by early 2012) in the database and we've collected a significant amount of data about each one (which we keep up-to-date) so that clients can filter depending on their own requirements.
We're working in partnership with the American Security Challenge (ASC) which originally established the database primarily to match tech companies with US government organisations. This means that the data collection and screening processes have been rigorously refined to meet the requirements of organisations including ManTech, Northrop Grumman, Arcsight, HP, Ridge Global and a number of VCs including Blue Heron and Blu Ventures.
Who is it for?
Any large corporate with financial or strategic reasons to take a minority stake in companies with innovative technologies in the following areas:
* Security of internal/external networks and devices
* High performance and cloud computing
* Physical security, sensors, biometrics, asset tracking, access controls and surveillance
* Increased security and online convenience for customers
* Analysis and visualization technologies to mine through enormous data sets to find market trends and new revenue lines
* Social media technologies to increase relationships with customers
* Vehicle fuel or building energy conservation technologies to lower operating costs
*Cleantech, renewable and scavenging energy innovations
*Fuel cell and battery technologies
What's the Methodology?
Working with the American Security Challenge (www.americansecuritychallenge.com) over 100 expert reviewers use a proprietary scoring methodology to evaluate submitted technologies and companies. Reviewer teams have a cross-section of expertise that provides business, technical, military, civilian, industry, customer, financial and entrepreneur perspectives for well-rounded perspectives and evaluation. Scoring examines the technology's uniqueness, mission criticality, value to the customer, scalability, competitive insulation as well as company stability and management.
Innovators and scores are kept in a proprietary database, which is constantly updated as innovators launch new products, land blue chip customers, obtain outside capital, increase revenue, hire more employees, become profitable, and dozens of other metrics. This frequently refreshed database represents unique and innovative solutions of which most large public or private buyers of security technology are not aware. As these solutions are scored, they offer more value than just a list of innovative technologies. The database itself is very flexible and allows users to quickly search and sort through hundreds of companies by the criteria most important them....is the company raising money and if so when/how much, are they profitable, what sectors do they sell into now and where do they intend to sell over the next year, what maturity level is the technology, do they have IP....and dozens of other criteria.

- That most of the companies are small but growing and seeking new contracting and investment opportunities for their deployable and near-term deployable technologies.
- Both startups and more mature innovative tech companies are included.
