Globalisation of innovation: Heptares
This special feature, in partnership with UK Trade & Investment, the UK government’s department focused on supporting exporters and inward investors, looks at how the corporate venturing unit of Japan-based pharmaceutical company Takeda came to back fast-growing UK company Heptares, which owns a breakthrough medical technology described by a Takeda executive as the “holy grail for pharma”. It is the first in our Globalisation of innovation series, looking at a showcase deal demonstrating how corporates from specific countries have invested in start-ups overseas.
